Virginia Culturally Relevant and Inclusive Education Practices Advisory Committee Meeting

The Culturally Relevant and Inclusive Education Practices Advisory Committee has been charged with convening for the purpose of providing:

(i) standards recommendations to the Department of Education that shall be considered by the Board of Education during the 2021-2022 review of the history and social science Standards of Learning; and

(ii) recommendations on meaningful professional development with school personnel related to culturally relevant and inclusive education practices.

In accordance with HB916, the Virginia Department of Education has been charged with establishing and appointing members as it deems appropriate to a Culturally Relevant and Inclusive Education Practices Advisory Committee and delivering a report of its recommendations to the Board of Education, the Governor, and the Chairs of the House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Education and Health no later than July 1, 2021.

The Committee is chaired by:
- The Honorable Jennifer Boysko, Member, Virginia Senate
- Dr. Francisco Durán, Virginia Board of Education & Superintendent of Arlington County Public Schools
- Dr. Andrew Daire, Dean, VCU School of Education
